JAMES RECKAWAY

Mr. Reckaway received his Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice Administration from the University of Phoenix in 2014. He later received a Master of Science in Criminal Justice Leadership and Management from Sam Houston State University in 2016, and he also received a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Texas-Rio Grande Valley in 2022. He graduated with his Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Houston Law Center in 2024.

Before joining Daw and Ray, LLP in April of 2025, Mr. Reckaway enjoyed 12 years working as a Texas police officer. Throughout his law enforcement career, he held numerous roles including Field Training Officer, Patrol Sergeant, Administrative Sergeant, Firearms Instructor, and SWAT Team Commander. He also graduated from the esteemed Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas Leadership Command College in 2016. Prior to his career in law enforcement, Mr. Reckaway was an infantry sergeant in the United States Marine Corps. He went on two combat deployments to Fallujah, Iraq during his military service.

Mr. Reckaway’s areas of concentration include personal injury, premises liability, first and third-party insurance defense, and commercial liability. He is a member of the State Bar or Texas and is licensed to practice in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas.
