David Altenbern graduated from Michigan State University in 1995, with high honors, and with a B.A. Degree in Criminal Justice. At Michigan State, David served as Associate Chief Justice of the All University Student Judiciary. In 1982, David received his J.D. Degree from The University of Texas, School of Law. At law school David was selected to the Order of Barristers (a top 10 oral advocate of his law school class of 500).

Before joining Daw & Ray, L.L.P. in 2008, as an Counsel Attorney, David operated his own law practice in Houston for 20 years. David Altenbern’s practice areas include Plaintiff’s personal injury, environmental, and business litigation cases. David also represented clients in family, probate, employment, insurance defense, and mediation matters. David has also been certified as a mediator by The American Mediation Institute. He has participated in hundreds of mediations as an advocate, and accepts judicial appointments and agreements of counsel to serve as a mediator. David has also been a featured speaker at continuing legal education courses on the topics of “The Effective Use of Private Investigators in Personal Injury Cases” and “The Rights and Duties of Partners in Partnership Litigation”.

Beginning in 2005, David has been selected each year as one of Houston’s “Top Lawyers of the People” by a H-Texas magazine. Beginning in 2006, David has been also selected each year by H-Texas magazine as one of Houston’s “Top Lawyers” (covers attorneys from all areas of law practice).
